Working with your Santander UK PDF
Santander UK is a bank in United Kingdom, and its customers usually download a bank statement as a PDF from online banking or the mobile app.
The public list we used describes Santander UK as a private bank. Founded in 1944.
Where to find the PDF at Santander UK
Sign in to Santander UK online banking or the app and look for the bank statement, e-statement or account activity section. Pick the account and the period, and choose PDF as the format. Menu names differ by bank and change over time, so use the PDF option your own screen offers.
PDF types Satr can read
PDF statements generated by a bank system contain selectable text. Those are the files Satr is built for.
A scan or a photo of a paper statement has no text layer, and Satr has no OCR, so it cannot read it. Download the PDF again from online banking instead.
Password-protected PDFs open after you type the password in your browser. Neither the password nor the file goes to a server.
Formats used in United Kingdom statements
Statements in United Kingdom usually show amounts in GBP (£) with a dot (.) as the decimal mark and a comma (,) as the thousands separator. A typical date format is DD/MM/YYYY or DD Mon YYYY.
Dates with month names, such as 01-Apr-2025, are recognised in English; month names in other languages may need a manual check.
Satr recognised these number and date patterns in our own checks, and you can still change the number format and column roles before exporting.
Importing into accounting software
If you use Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, and FreeAgent, open the exported XLSX or CSV and match its columns in the program's import screen. There is no connection between Satr and these tools.
