HDFC Bank in India
Customers of HDFC Bank in India typically get their bank statement as a PDF, and that PDF is what Satr reads.
HDFC Bank appears under private ownership in the list we checked. HDFC Bank runs its head office from Mumbai. The bank's web address is hdfc.bank.in. Founded in 1994.
Download your bank statement from HDFC Bank as a PDF
In the HDFC Bank app or website, open the account you need and look for a statement or transaction history option; if it can be saved as PDF, save it. We do not describe exact menus, because they change; search the help section of HDFC Bank for “bank statement” if you cannot find it.
What the PDF must contain
When the bank generates the PDF itself, the text inside is real text, not a picture. Satr reads that text layer and rebuilds the rows from it.
A scan or a photo of a paper statement has no text layer, and Satr has no OCR, so it cannot read it. Download the PDF again from online banking instead.
Password-protected PDFs open after you type the password in your browser. Neither the password nor the file goes to a server.
India: numbers, dates and currency
In India, amounts are normally written in INR (₹); the decimal mark is a dot (.) and the thousands separator is a comma (,). A typical date format is DD/MM/YYYY, DD-MM-YYYY, or DD-Mon-YYYY.
Indian digit grouping such as 12,34,567.00 is common; Satr removes the commas correctly when it reads the number. Debit and credit can be marked with Dr and Cr after the amount; Satr reads Dr as a negative number. Dates with month names, such as 01-Apr-2025, are recognised in English; month names in other languages may need a manual check.
Satr recognised these number and date patterns in our own checks, and you can still change the number format and column roles before exporting.
Using the Excel file in Tally, Zoho Books, and QuickBooks
Accounting packages used in India, such as Tally, Zoho Books, and QuickBooks, let you import spreadsheet files. Export from Satr as XLSX or CSV and match the columns there; Satr is not connected to those programs.
Tested or not?
No statement from HDFC Bank has been tested individually yet.
Satr reads text-based PDFs with a generic parser. So far we have tested these layouts: 5 synthetic sample statements of fictional banks (Turkish, English, Arabic, Persian).
Satr is not affiliated with HDFC Bank and is not endorsed by it.
Privacy: nothing is uploaded
The PDF is opened with pdf.js in your browser. Account numbers, names and transactions are not sent to a server, and you can check that in the Network tab of your browser. Apart from anonymous page-view counters (event name, language, page path, referrer kind), only if you pay are the plan and a payment reference sent.
