Download your bank statement from Kotak Mahindra Bank as a PDF

In the Kotak Mahindra Bank app or website, open the account you need and look for a statement or transaction history option; if it can be saved as PDF, save it. We do not describe exact menus, because they change; search the help section of Kotak Mahindra Bank for “bank statement” if you cannot find it.

What the PDF must contain

PDF statements generated by a bank system contain selectable text. Those are the files Satr is built for.

Scanned pages and photos saved as PDF are images. Satr does not do OCR, so it will tell you there is no text.

If the PDF is password-protected, Satr asks for the password and opens it locally; the password is not sent anywhere.

India: numbers, dates and currency

Amounts in India statements are typically shown in INR (₹), using a dot (.) for decimals and a comma (,) to separate thousands. You will usually see dates written as DD/MM/YYYY, DD-MM-YYYY, or DD-Mon-YYYY.

Indian digit grouping such as 12,34,567.00 is common; Satr removes the commas correctly when it reads the number. Debit and credit can be marked with Dr and Cr after the amount; Satr reads Dr as a negative number. Dates with month names, such as 01-Apr-2025, are recognised in English; month names in other languages may need a manual check.

In our checks Satr read these patterns correctly; the mapper still lets you switch the number format if a file differs.

Using the Excel file in Tally, Zoho Books, and QuickBooks

Accounting packages used in India, such as Tally, Zoho Books, and QuickBooks, let you import spreadsheet files. Export from Satr as XLSX or CSV and match the columns there; Satr is not connected to those programs.
