Working with your Family Bank PDF

If you bank with Family Bank in Kenya, the PDF bank statement is the file you start from; Satr turns its transaction table into a spreadsheet.

The bank is headquartered in Nairobi. The bank's web address is familybank.co.ke.

Where to find the PDF at Family Bank

Sign in to Family Bank online banking or the app and look for the bank statement, e-statement or account activity section. Pick the account and the period, and choose PDF as the format. Menu names differ by bank and change over time, so use the PDF option your own screen offers.

PDF types Satr can read

PDF statements generated by a bank system contain selectable text. Those are the files Satr is built for.

A PDF made by scanning paper, or a screenshot saved as PDF, holds pictures only. Satr cannot read pictures, so get the original PDF from online banking.

If the PDF is password-protected, Satr asks for the password and opens it locally; the password is not sent anywhere.

Formats used in Kenya statements

Statements in Kenya usually show amounts in KES (KSh) with a dot (.) as the decimal mark and a comma (,) as the thousands separator. You will usually see dates written as DD/MM/YYYY or DD-Mon-YYYY.

Dates with month names, such as 01-Apr-2025, are recognised in English; month names in other languages may need a manual check.

Satr recognised these number and date patterns in our own checks, and you can still change the number format and column roles before exporting.

Importing into accounting software

Accounting packages used in Kenya, such as QuickBooks, Xero, and Zoho Books, let you import spreadsheet files. Export from Satr as XLSX or CSV and match the columns there; Satr is not connected to those programs.

Honest status for Family Bank

Family Bank has not been individually tested with Satr.

Satr reads text-based PDFs with a generic parser. So far we have tested these layouts: 5 synthetic sample statements of fictional banks (Turkish, English, Arabic, Persian).

Satr is not affiliated with Family Bank and is not endorsed by it.

Your Family Bank PDF stays on your device

The PDF is opened with pdf.js in your browser. Account numbers, names and transactions are not sent to a server, and you can check that in the Network tab of your browser. Apart from anonymous page-view counters (event name, language, page path, referrer kind), only if you pay are the plan and a payment reference sent.
