National Bank of Canada in Canada

National Bank of Canada is a bank in Canada, and its customers usually download a bank statement as a PDF from online banking or the mobile app.

The public list we used describes National Bank of Canada as a private bank. National Bank of Canada runs its head office from Montreal. The bank's web address is nbc.ca. The source lists 1859 as its founding year.

Download your bank statement from National Bank of Canada as a PDF

In the National Bank of Canada app or website, open the account you need and look for a statement or transaction history option; if it can be saved as PDF, save it. We do not describe exact menus, because they change; search the help section of National Bank of Canada for “bank statement” if you cannot find it.

What the PDF must contain

When the bank generates the PDF itself, the text inside is real text, not a picture. Satr reads that text layer and rebuilds the rows from it.

A scan or a photo of a paper statement has no text layer, and Satr has no OCR, so it cannot read it. Download the PDF again from online banking instead.

Locked with a password? Type it into Satr when asked. The password is used on your device to unlock the file and goes nowhere else.

Canada: numbers, dates and currency

Statements in Canada usually show amounts in CAD ($) with a dot (.) as the decimal mark and a comma (,) as the thousands separator. You will usually see dates written as YYYY-MM-DD or MM/DD/YYYY.

Banks in the same country do not all use the same number format, so check the number format option in the preview. Some statements put the month first (MM/DD/YYYY); check the date order in the preview when the day is 12 or lower.

We checked sample values in these formats against the shipped parser and they were read correctly; you stay in control, because the number format can be changed in the preview.

Using the Excel file in QuickBooks, Sage 50, and Xero

If you use QuickBooks, Sage 50, and Xero, open the exported XLSX or CSV and match its columns in the program's import screen. There is no connection between Satr and these tools.

Tested or not?

National Bank of Canada has not been individually tested with Satr.

The parser is generic and reads text-based PDFs. Layouts we have tested so far: 5 synthetic sample statements of fictional banks (Turkish, English, Arabic, Persian).

Satr is an independent tool and is not affiliated with National Bank of Canada. The bank is named only so you know which PDF this page is about.

Your National Bank of Canada PDF stays on your device

Nothing in your statement is uploaded. Satr runs inside your browser tab, so the PDF, the rows and the exported file stay on your device.
