USAA in United States

Customers of USAA in United States typically get their bank statement as a PDF, and that PDF is what Satr reads.

Its headquarters are in San Antonio, Texas. You can find it online at usaa.com.

Download your bank statement from USAA as a PDF

In the USAA app or website, open the account you need and look for a statement or transaction history option; if it can be saved as PDF, save it. We do not describe exact menus, because they change; search the help section of USAA for “bank statement” if you cannot find it.

What the PDF must contain

A PDF that you download from online banking normally has a real text layer, and Satr can read its rows. You can test this by trying to select text in the PDF.

A scan or a photo of a paper statement has no text layer, and Satr has no OCR, so it cannot read it. Download the PDF again from online banking instead.

Password-protected PDFs open after you type the password in your browser. Neither the password nor the file goes to a server.

United States: numbers, dates and currency

Amounts in United States statements are typically shown in USD ($), using a dot (.) for decimals and a comma (,) to separate thousands. A typical date format is MM/DD/YYYY or MM/DD.

Some statements put the month first (MM/DD/YYYY); check the date order in the preview when the day is 12 or lower. Some statements print dates without a year (for example 04/01); those rows may need the year added in Excel.

Satr recognised these number and date patterns in our own checks, and you can still change the number format and column roles before exporting.

Using the Excel file in QuickBooks and Xero

Many people in United States work with QuickBooks and Xero. You can map the Excel or CSV columns in the import screen of those programs; Satr has no integration with them and does not claim any.

Tested or not?

USAA is not in our list of individually tested banks.

Satr reads text-based PDFs with a generic parser. So far we have tested these layouts: 5 synthetic sample statements of fictional banks (Turkish, English, Arabic, Persian).

Satr is not affiliated with USAA and is not endorsed by it.

Your USAA PDF stays on your device

Nothing in your statement is uploaded. Satr runs inside your browser tab, so the PDF, the rows and the exported file stay on your device.
