Working with your Bank of Scotland PDF

Customers of Bank of Scotland in United Kingdom typically get their bank statement as a PDF, and that PDF is what Satr reads.

Bank of Scotland appears under private ownership in the list we checked. Founded in 1695.

Where to find the PDF at Bank of Scotland

Sign in to Bank of Scotland online banking or the app and look for the bank statement, e-statement or account activity section. Pick the account and the period, and choose PDF as the format. Menu names differ by bank and change over time, so use the PDF option your own screen offers.

PDF types Satr can read

A PDF that you download from online banking normally has a real text layer, and Satr can read its rows. You can test this by trying to select text in the PDF.

Scanned pages and photos saved as PDF are images. Satr does not do OCR, so it will tell you there is no text.

Password-protected PDFs open after you type the password in your browser. Neither the password nor the file goes to a server.

Formats used in United Kingdom statements

Amounts in United Kingdom statements are typically shown in GBP (£), using a dot (.) for decimals and a comma (,) to separate thousands. Dates commonly look like DD/MM/YYYY or DD Mon YYYY.

Dates with month names, such as 01-Apr-2025, are recognised in English; month names in other languages may need a manual check.

We checked sample values in these formats against the shipped parser and they were read correctly; you stay in control, because the number format can be changed in the preview.

Importing into accounting software

Many people in United Kingdom work with Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, and FreeAgent. You can map the Excel or CSV columns in the import screen of those programs; Satr has no integration with them and does not claim any.
