Working with your Hong Leong Bank PDF

If you bank with Hong Leong Bank in Malaysia, the PDF bank statement is the file you start from; Satr turns its transaction table into a spreadsheet.

Its headquarters are in Kuala Lumpur. You can find it online at hlb.com.my.

Where to find the PDF at Hong Leong Bank

Sign in to Hong Leong Bank online banking or the app and look for the bank statement, e-statement or account activity section. Pick the account and the period, and choose PDF as the format. Menu names differ by bank and change over time, so use the PDF option your own screen offers.

PDF types Satr can read

A PDF that you download from online banking normally has a real text layer, and Satr can read its rows. You can test this by trying to select text in the PDF.

A PDF made by scanning paper, or a screenshot saved as PDF, holds pictures only. Satr cannot read pictures, so get the original PDF from online banking.

If the PDF is password-protected, Satr asks for the password and opens it locally; the password is not sent anywhere.

Formats used in Malaysia statements

In Malaysia, amounts are normally written in MYR (RM); the decimal mark is a dot (.) and the thousands separator is a comma (,). You will usually see dates written as DD/MM/YYYY or DD Mon YYYY.

Dates with month names, such as 01-Apr-2025, are recognised in English; month names in other languages may need a manual check.

In our checks Satr read these patterns correctly; the mapper still lets you switch the number format if a file differs.

Importing into accounting software

Many people in Malaysia work with SQL Account, AutoCount, and QuickBooks. You can map the Excel or CSV columns in the import screen of those programs; Satr has no integration with them and does not claim any.
