About HSBC Malaysia statements
If you bank with HSBC Malaysia in Malaysia, the PDF bank statement is the file you start from; Satr turns its transaction table into a spreadsheet.
HSBC Malaysia is listed as a foreign-owned or foreign bank operating in Malaysia.
Getting the PDF out of HSBC Malaysia
Open the bank statement area of HSBC Malaysia online banking or its app, select the account and the date range, then save or export the result as PDF. Where exactly this sits depends on the bank's current design, so follow the labels on your own screen.
Text PDFs, scans and password-protected files
PDF statements generated by a bank system contain selectable text. Those are the files Satr is built for.
A PDF made by scanning paper, or a screenshot saved as PDF, holds pictures only. Satr cannot read pictures, so get the original PDF from online banking.
Locked with a password? Type it into Satr when asked. The password is used on your device to unlock the file and goes nowhere else.
How Malaysia amounts and dates are handled
In Malaysia, amounts are normally written in MYR (RM); the decimal mark is a dot (.) and the thousands separator is a comma (,). A typical date format is DD/MM/YYYY or DD Mon YYYY.
Dates with month names, such as 01-Apr-2025, are recognised in English; month names in other languages may need a manual check.
In our checks Satr read these patterns correctly; the mapper still lets you switch the number format if a file differs.
Using the Excel file in SQL Account, AutoCount, and QuickBooks
Accounting packages used in Malaysia, such as SQL Account, AutoCount, and QuickBooks, let you import spreadsheet files. Export from Satr as XLSX or CSV and match the columns there; Satr is not connected to those programs.
What has been tested
No statement from HSBC Malaysia has been tested individually yet.
Satr works with text-based PDFs. Layouts tested so far: 5 synthetic sample statements of fictional banks (Turkish, English, Arabic, Persian).
Satr is an independent tool and is not affiliated with HSBC Malaysia. The bank is named only so you know which PDF this page is about.
Privacy: nothing is uploaded
Nothing in your statement is uploaded. Satr runs inside your browser tab, so the PDF, the rows and the exported file stay on your device.

Download the statement as a PDF, open it in Satr and map the columns. The status section on this page says what has and has not been tested.
Does my HSBC Malaysia PDF leave my device?
The file stays on your device. You can watch the Network tab of your browser to see that no upload happens.
Does HSBC Malaysia endorse Satr?
No. Satr has no connection with HSBC Malaysia; it is an independent converter.
Does it work with a scanned HSBC Malaysia statement?
A scan cannot be read, because Satr does not perform OCR. Use the PDF produced by online banking.
How are Malaysia amounts and dates read?
Satr detects the number format from the file and shows it in the preview (a dot (.) as decimal mark, a comma (,) for thousands is typical in Malaysia); you can switch it before exporting.
Can I import the HSBC Malaysia Excel file into SQL Account, AutoCount, and QuickBooks?
You can map the exported columns in the import screen of those programs. Satr has no integration with them, so check the import rules of your own software.
