About Investec Bank statements
Investec Bank is a bank in South Africa, and its customers usually download a bank statement as a PDF from online banking or the mobile app.
Investec Bank runs its head office from London. Its website domain is investec.com.
Getting the PDF out of Investec Bank
Open the bank statement area of Investec Bank online banking or its app, select the account and the date range, then save or export the result as PDF. Where exactly this sits depends on the bank's current design, so follow the labels on your own screen.
Text PDFs, scans and password-protected files
When the bank generates the PDF itself, the text inside is real text, not a picture. Satr reads that text layer and rebuilds the rows from it.
A scan or a photo of a paper statement has no text layer, and Satr has no OCR, so it cannot read it. Download the PDF again from online banking instead.
Password-protected PDFs open after you type the password in your browser. Neither the password nor the file goes to a server.
How South Africa amounts and dates are handled
In South Africa, amounts are normally written in ZAR (R); the decimal mark is a dot (.) and the thousands separator is a space. A typical date format is YYYY/MM/DD or DD/MM/YYYY.
A space is often used between thousands, and a narrow or non-breaking space can look like two columns in a PDF; check the amount column in the preview. Banks in the same country do not all use the same number format, so check the number format option in the preview.
We checked sample values in these formats against the shipped parser and they were read correctly; you stay in control, because the number format can be changed in the preview.
Using the Excel file in Sage, Xero, and QuickBooks
Many people in South Africa work with Sage, Xero, and QuickBooks. You can map the Excel or CSV columns in the import screen of those programs; Satr has no integration with them and does not claim any.
What has been tested
Investec Bank has not been individually tested with Satr.
The parser is generic and reads text-based PDFs. Layouts we have tested so far: 5 synthetic sample statements of fictional banks (Turkish, English, Arabic, Persian).
Satr is not affiliated with Investec Bank. Investec Bank is named only to describe the PDF you bring.
Privacy: nothing is uploaded
Satr reads the file locally. There is no upload, no account, and nothing from the statement is stored on a server. You can confirm it with your browser's developer tools.

Questions
How do I turn my bank statement from Investec Bank into Excel?
That works when your Investec Bank PDF holds real text. Save it from online banking, load it in Satr, confirm the columns and download XLSX or CSV.
Does my Investec Bank PDF leave my device?
No. Satr opens the PDF in your browser, so your Investec Bank data never reaches a server.
Does Investec Bank endorse Satr?
No. Satr has no connection with Investec Bank; it is an independent converter.
Does it work with a scanned Investec Bank statement?
A scan cannot be read, because Satr does not perform OCR. Use the PDF produced by online banking.
How are South Africa amounts and dates read?
Satr reads the separators in the file and shows the result in the preview. For South Africa, a dot (.) for decimals and a space for thousands is typical, but each file is checked on its own.
Where is Investec Bank headquartered?
According to the public list we used, Investec Bank is headquartered in London. Where the head office is does not change how a PDF statement is converted.
