Working with your TymeBank PDF
Customers of TymeBank in South Africa typically get their bank statement as a PDF, and that PDF is what Satr reads.
You can find it online at tymebank.co.za.
Where to find the PDF at TymeBank
Sign in to TymeBank online banking or the app and look for the bank statement, e-statement or account activity section. Pick the account and the period, and choose PDF as the format. Menu names differ by bank and change over time, so use the PDF option your own screen offers.
PDF types Satr can read
PDF statements generated by a bank system contain selectable text. Those are the files Satr is built for.
A PDF made by scanning paper, or a screenshot saved as PDF, holds pictures only. Satr cannot read pictures, so get the original PDF from online banking.
If the PDF is password-protected, Satr asks for the password and opens it locally; the password is not sent anywhere.
Formats used in South Africa statements
In South Africa, amounts are normally written in ZAR (R); the decimal mark is a dot (.) and the thousands separator is a space. You will usually see dates written as YYYY/MM/DD or DD/MM/YYYY.
A space is often used between thousands, and a narrow or non-breaking space can look like two columns in a PDF; check the amount column in the preview. Banks in the same country do not all use the same number format, so check the number format option in the preview.
Satr recognised these number and date patterns in our own checks, and you can still change the number format and column roles before exporting.
Importing into accounting software
Accounting packages used in South Africa, such as Sage, Xero, and QuickBooks, let you import spreadsheet files. Export from Satr as XLSX or CSV and match the columns there; Satr is not connected to those programs.

Is Satr connected to TymeBank?
