Janata Bank in Bangladesh
If you bank with Janata Bank in Bangladesh, the PDF bank statement is the file you start from; Satr turns its transaction table into a spreadsheet.
Janata Bank is described as a state-owned bank in the public list we checked. The bank is headquartered in Dhaka. The bank's web address is janatabank-bd.com.
Download your bank statement from Janata Bank as a PDF
In the Janata Bank app or website, open the account you need and look for a statement or transaction history option; if it can be saved as PDF, save it. We do not describe exact menus, because they change; search the help section of Janata Bank for “bank statement” if you cannot find it.
What the PDF must contain
PDF statements generated by a bank system contain selectable text. Those are the files Satr is built for.
A PDF made by scanning paper, or a screenshot saved as PDF, holds pictures only. Satr cannot read pictures, so get the original PDF from online banking.
Password-protected PDFs open after you type the password in your browser. Neither the password nor the file goes to a server.
Bangladesh: numbers, dates and currency
Amounts in Bangladesh statements are typically shown in BDT (৳), using a dot (.) for decimals and a comma (,) to separate thousands. You will usually see dates written as DD/MM/YYYY or DD-Mon-YYYY.
Indian digit grouping such as 12,34,567.00 is common; Satr removes the commas correctly when it reads the number. Dates with month names, such as 01-Apr-2025, are recognised in English; month names in other languages may need a manual check.
We checked sample values in these formats against the shipped parser and they were read correctly; you stay in control, because the number format can be changed in the preview.
Using the Excel file in Tally and QuickBooks
Many people in Bangladesh work with Tally and QuickBooks. You can map the Excel or CSV columns in the import screen of those programs; Satr has no integration with them and does not claim any.
Tested or not?
Janata Bank has not been individually tested with Satr.
The parser is generic and reads text-based PDFs. Layouts we have tested so far: 5 synthetic sample statements of fictional banks (Turkish, English, Arabic, Persian).
Satr is not affiliated with Janata Bank and is not endorsed by it.
Privacy: nothing is uploaded
The PDF is opened with pdf.js in your browser. Account numbers, names and transactions are not sent to a server, and you can check that in the Network tab of your browser. Apart from anonymous page-view counters (event name, language, page path, referrer kind), only if you pay are the plan and a payment reference sent.
