About PNC Financial Services statements

Customers of PNC Financial Services in United States typically get their bank statement as a PDF, and that PDF is what Satr reads.

The bank is headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The bank's web address is pnc.com.

Getting the PDF out of PNC Financial Services

Open the bank statement area of PNC Financial Services online banking or its app, select the account and the date range, then save or export the result as PDF. Where exactly this sits depends on the bank's current design, so follow the labels on your own screen.

Text PDFs, scans and password-protected files

When the bank generates the PDF itself, the text inside is real text, not a picture. Satr reads that text layer and rebuilds the rows from it.

Scanned pages and photos saved as PDF are images. Satr does not do OCR, so it will tell you there is no text.

Password-protected PDFs open after you type the password in your browser. Neither the password nor the file goes to a server.

How United States amounts and dates are handled

In United States, amounts are normally written in USD ($); the decimal mark is a dot (.) and the thousands separator is a comma (,). A typical date format is MM/DD/YYYY or MM/DD.

Some statements put the month first (MM/DD/YYYY); check the date order in the preview when the day is 12 or lower. Some statements print dates without a year (for example 04/01); those rows may need the year added in Excel.

We checked sample values in these formats against the shipped parser and they were read correctly; you stay in control, because the number format can be changed in the preview.

Using the Excel file in QuickBooks and Xero

If you use QuickBooks and Xero, open the exported XLSX or CSV and match its columns in the program's import screen. There is no connection between Satr and these tools.

What has been tested

PNC Financial Services has not been individually tested with Satr.

The parser is generic and reads text-based PDFs. Layouts we have tested so far: 5 synthetic sample statements of fictional banks (Turkish, English, Arabic, Persian).

Satr is not affiliated with PNC Financial Services and is not endorsed by it.

No upload: how your PNC Financial Services file is handled

The PDF is opened with pdf.js in your browser. Account numbers, names and transactions are not sent to a server, and you can check that in the Network tab of your browser. Apart from anonymous page-view counters (event name, language, page path, referrer kind), only if you pay are the plan and a payment reference sent.
