What to expect from your Simplii Financial statement

If you bank with Simplii Financial in Canada, the PDF bank statement is the file you start from; Satr turns its transaction table into a spreadsheet.

Simplii Financial is listed as a foreign-owned or foreign bank operating in Canada. Its website domain is simplii.com.

How to get the PDF bank statement from Simplii Financial

Ask Simplii Financial online banking for the bank statement of the account and period you need and download it as a PDF. If a PDF is not offered, the branch or the bank's support can usually provide one.

Which PDFs work

A PDF that you download from online banking normally has a real text layer, and Satr can read its rows. You can test this by trying to select text in the PDF.

Scanned pages and photos saved as PDF are images. Satr does not do OCR, so it will tell you there is no text.

Locked with a password? Type it into Satr when asked. The password is used on your device to unlock the file and goes nowhere else.

Reading Canada amounts and dates

Statements in Canada usually show amounts in CAD ($) with a dot (.) as the decimal mark and a comma (,) as the thousands separator. A typical date format is YYYY-MM-DD or MM/DD/YYYY.

Banks in the same country do not all use the same number format, so check the number format option in the preview. Some statements put the month first (MM/DD/YYYY); check the date order in the preview when the day is 12 or lower.

In our checks Satr read these patterns correctly; the mapper still lets you switch the number format if a file differs.

Importing into accounting software

Many people in Canada work with QuickBooks, Sage 50, and Xero. You can map the Excel or CSV columns in the import screen of those programs; Satr has no integration with them and does not claim any.
