Download your bank statement from Toronto-Dominion Bank as a PDF
In the Toronto-Dominion Bank app or website, open the account you need and look for a statement or transaction history option; if it can be saved as PDF, save it. We do not describe exact menus, because they change; search the help section of Toronto-Dominion Bank for “bank statement” if you cannot find it.
What the PDF must contain
When the bank generates the PDF itself, the text inside is real text, not a picture. Satr reads that text layer and rebuilds the rows from it.
A scan or a photo of a paper statement has no text layer, and Satr has no OCR, so it cannot read it. Download the PDF again from online banking instead.
Locked with a password? Type it into Satr when asked. The password is used on your device to unlock the file and goes nowhere else.
Canada: numbers, dates and currency
Statements in Canada usually show amounts in CAD ($) with a dot (.) as the decimal mark and a comma (,) as the thousands separator. You will usually see dates written as YYYY-MM-DD or MM/DD/YYYY.
Banks in the same country do not all use the same number format, so check the number format option in the preview. Some statements put the month first (MM/DD/YYYY); check the date order in the preview when the day is 12 or lower.
Satr recognised these number and date patterns in our own checks, and you can still change the number format and column roles before exporting.
Using the Excel file in QuickBooks, Sage 50, and Xero
If you use QuickBooks, Sage 50, and Xero, open the exported XLSX or CSV and match its columns in the program's import screen. There is no connection between Satr and these tools.
