Download your bank statement from Union Bank of India as a PDF
In the Union Bank of India app or website, open the account you need and look for a statement or transaction history option; if it can be saved as PDF, save it. We do not describe exact menus, because they change; search the help section of Union Bank of India for “bank statement” if you cannot find it.
What the PDF must contain
When the bank generates the PDF itself, the text inside is real text, not a picture. Satr reads that text layer and rebuilds the rows from it.
A PDF made by scanning paper, or a screenshot saved as PDF, holds pictures only. Satr cannot read pictures, so get the original PDF from online banking.
Password-protected PDFs open after you type the password in your browser. Neither the password nor the file goes to a server.
India: numbers, dates and currency
Amounts in India statements are typically shown in INR (₹), using a dot (.) for decimals and a comma (,) to separate thousands. A typical date format is DD/MM/YYYY, DD-MM-YYYY, or DD-Mon-YYYY.
Indian digit grouping such as 12,34,567.00 is common; Satr removes the commas correctly when it reads the number. Debit and credit can be marked with Dr and Cr after the amount; Satr reads Dr as a negative number. Dates with month names, such as 01-Apr-2025, are recognised in English; month names in other languages may need a manual check.
In our checks Satr read these patterns correctly; the mapper still lets you switch the number format if a file differs.
Using the Excel file in Tally, Zoho Books, and QuickBooks
Many people in India work with Tally, Zoho Books, and QuickBooks. You can map the Excel or CSV columns in the import screen of those programs; Satr has no integration with them and does not claim any.
