About Citigroup statements
Customers of Citigroup in United States typically get their bank statement as a PDF, and that PDF is what Satr reads.
The bank is headquartered in New York, New York. Its website domain is citigroup.com.
Getting the PDF out of Citigroup
Open the bank statement area of Citigroup online banking or its app, select the account and the date range, then save or export the result as PDF. Where exactly this sits depends on the bank's current design, so follow the labels on your own screen.
Text PDFs, scans and password-protected files
PDF statements generated by a bank system contain selectable text. Those are the files Satr is built for.
Scanned pages and photos saved as PDF are images. Satr does not do OCR, so it will tell you there is no text.
If the PDF is password-protected, Satr asks for the password and opens it locally; the password is not sent anywhere.
How United States amounts and dates are handled
In United States, amounts are normally written in USD ($); the decimal mark is a dot (.) and the thousands separator is a comma (,). You will usually see dates written as MM/DD/YYYY or MM/DD.
Some statements put the month first (MM/DD/YYYY); check the date order in the preview when the day is 12 or lower. Some statements print dates without a year (for example 04/01); those rows may need the year added in Excel.
In our checks Satr read these patterns correctly; the mapper still lets you switch the number format if a file differs.
Using the Excel file in QuickBooks and Xero
If you use QuickBooks and Xero, open the exported XLSX or CSV and match its columns in the program's import screen. There is no connection between Satr and these tools.
What has been tested
No statement from Citigroup has been tested individually yet.
Satr works with text-based PDFs. Layouts tested so far: 5 synthetic sample statements of fictional banks (Turkish, English, Arabic, Persian).
Satr is an independent tool and is not affiliated with Citigroup. The bank is named only so you know which PDF this page is about.
Privacy: nothing is uploaded
The PDF is opened with pdf.js in your browser. Account numbers, names and transactions are not sent to a server, and you can check that in the Network tab of your browser. Apart from anonymous page-view counters (event name, language, page path, referrer kind), only if you pay are the plan and a payment reference sent.
