A HBL PDF bank statement becomes an Excel sheet in three moves: download the PDF from HBL, open it in Satr, then export XLSX or CSV. Your file is processed locally and never sent to a server.

About HBL statements

If you bank with HBL in Pakistan, the PDF bank statement is the file you start from; Satr turns its transaction table into a spreadsheet.

HBL is listed as a privately owned bank. HBL runs its head office from Karachi.

Getting the PDF out of HBL

Open the bank statement area of HBL online banking or its app, select the account and the date range, then save or export the result as PDF. Where exactly this sits depends on the bank's current design, so follow the labels on your own screen.

Text PDFs, scans and password-protected files

A PDF that you download from online banking normally has a real text layer, and Satr can read its rows. You can test this by trying to select text in the PDF.

Scanned pages and photos saved as PDF are images. Satr does not do OCR, so it will tell you there is no text.

If the PDF is password-protected, Satr asks for the password and opens it locally; the password is not sent anywhere.

How Pakistan amounts and dates are handled

Statements in Pakistan usually show amounts in PKR (Rs) with a dot (.) as the decimal mark and a comma (,) as the thousands separator. A typical date format is DD/MM/YYYY or DD-Mon-YYYY.

Dates with month names, such as 01-Apr-2025, are recognised in English; month names in other languages may need a manual check.

Satr recognised these number and date patterns in our own checks, and you can still change the number format and column roles before exporting.

Using the Excel file in QuickBooks, Xero, and Tally

If you use QuickBooks, Xero, and Tally, open the exported XLSX or CSV and match its columns in the program's import screen. There is no connection between Satr and these tools.

What has been tested

HBL has not been individually tested with Satr.

Satr works with text-based PDFs. Layouts tested so far: 5 synthetic sample statements of fictional banks (Turkish, English, Arabic, Persian).

Satr is an independent tool and is not affiliated with HBL. The bank is named only so you know which PDF this page is about.

No upload: how your HBL file is handled

The PDF is opened with pdf.js in your browser. Account numbers, names and transactions are not sent to a server, and you can check that in the Network tab of your browser. Apart from anonymous page-view counters (event name, language, page path, referrer kind), only if you pay are the plan and a payment reference sent.
